As promised, the first posthumous track by Avicii has been released featuring Aloe Blacc. “I feel like ‘SOS’ was a song that was probably ahead of its time for when he wrote it,” Blacc said of the song in a statement. “He wrote these lyrics obviously about some of his battles and I think it’s a really important topic to approach and to share, especially with his visibility and his access to ears and hearts. To give people the words to be able to say ’I need help.’”
Along with this single, the date for the full album release has now been revealed as the 6th June. Avicii was an artist who touched the hearts of his fans and this is no doubt an emotional time for everyone listening. Avicii’s team have stated that the tracks on this new album were around 75% – 80% complete at his time of death and they have been finished by some of his close collaborators. Avicii will continue to inspire listeners for years to come, his family have setup a foundation to help people with mental health issues. The Tim Bergling Foundation, which they have said will initially focus on supporting people and organisations in the field of mental illness and suicide prevention. It also will be active in climate change, nature conservation and endangered species.
In what is a sad situation, we have to look for the positives and the legacy of Tim is one of those. Fans of Avicii are also a testament to the electronic music scene, showing that music really does bring people together and the level of support within the community is heart warming.
